Good Afternoon, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.
So does it? In the world of social media it is often seen as a bit of a club that you are either in the know about or not… you play the game or you’re not in the game. Do you know what I mean? So all the trendy (or should I say geeky?) kids are all setting up Facebook pages, and know how to do it, but you don’t, so what do you do? Ask for help or just figure it out…
Lots of people don’t seem to understand the concept that the online world operates the same as the offline/usual world, by that I mean you wouldn’t be mean to someone’s face so don’t write mean things on their wall, it’s all about the respect. You need to play by the unwritten rules of society or you will annoy people, and yes they are more forgiving in the online world, but even that will eventually run out…..
The reason I write this is because often the online world can create a feeling of commardery between complete strangers which just wouldn’t happen offline and people then feel that they can ask for things that they wouldn’t normally. For example, the number of fans on the Mocks page who ask for free Mocks is amazing, they don’t seem to comprehend that we are a business, and therefore can’t give everything away for free. Similarly the number of people who ask for help and advice from someone, and yet don’t appreciate that this is taking up that person’s time (and as we all know time is money), astounds me.
Why is it ok to ask a complete stranger for something that you may not even ask a friend? Is it that the security of being sat at a computer means that it doesn’t seem real? Or is it that you think the rules are different?
Well this little bunny is here to tell you, online/offline/in outer space the rules are the same, the sooner you realise that the less you will annoy people!
